Salary: $113,400 - $121,054 per annum + 17% superannuation (level A).
About the opportunity
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Adipocyte in Metabolic Disease to carry out independent research in line with the aims of the laboratory and the Charles Perkins Centre.
Responsibilities
* Participate in and continue laboratory research programmes.
* Carry out independent research that aligns with the aims of the lab and the CPC.
* Coordinate a number of research programmes and ensure timely completion.
* Develop and apply methodologies as needed, and teach new methodologies to group members and the wider university community.
* Foster collaborations to advance research programmes within the group.
* Compete for national and international funding opportunities.
* Gain peer recognition through presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
* Publish research in high‐ranking peer‐reviewed journals in a timely manner.
* Supervise honours and PhD students.
* Contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level and pursue opportunities to enhance expertise in higher education.
* Contribute to the University's work of community and alumni engagement and, where appropriate, to broader forums of public engagement.
* Establish considerable expertise in a unique area such as cell biology, molecular biology, microscopy, small animal experiments, data analysis and disseminate this skill base to other members of the team at CPC and external researchers.
Qualifications
* A PhD (or near completion) in obesity and lipid metabolism or related areas.
* Expertise in performing experiments in small animals.
* Experience working with adipose tissue.
* Expertise with 3D culture models.
* Experience with cell culture.
* General expertise in gene editing and CRISPR‐Cas9 technology.
* Expertise in bioinformatics.
* The ability and willingness to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to long‐term research goals.
* Excellent communication (written and verbal), organisational and problem‐solving skills with attention to detail.
* A strong track record of publishing research.
