Job Opportunity
As the Shipping Specialist, you will develop and execute strategies for the company's import freight portfolio while supporting export dry bulk operations. The role involves ensuring efficient, cost‐effective vessel arrangements and driver support to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategies for import freight services, including customs clearance, aligned with operational and commercial goals.
* Assist the export dry bulk department, handling vessel vetting, post‐fixture operations, and contract management.
* Conduct market analysis, demand forecasting, and supplier capability assessments to inform sourcing strategies.
* Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and value creation across international freight services.
* Design freight panels for key service categories (customs, airfreight, international courier, sea freight), ensuring comprehensive coverage.
* Regularly review and refresh panels to maintain competitiveness, supply diversity, and alignment with operational needs.
* Define and monitor KPIs for supplier performance, cost savings, contract compliance, and service delivery.
* Identify and manage commercial risks, including insurance compliance, transport regulatory issues, and supplier dependencies.
* Act as a trusted advisor, providing commercial insights to support decision-making.
Required Qualifications
* Relevant degree qualification is highly regarded.
* Proven experience in international freight, ideally within freight forwarding or customs.
* Strong understanding of various modes of transport and routes.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and influence senior stakeholders.
* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and commercial acumen.
* Knowledge of Chinese and Mandarin is an added advantage.
