About the Role
We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Civil Earthworks Mobile Plant Operators to join our team working within active rail corridor environments. This role involves operating a range of civil and earthmoving equipment to support rail maintenance, construction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure projects in remote locations.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, the ability to work effectively within rail compliance requirements, and experience operating plant in high-risk environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate mobile plant and earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently within rail corridors and civil construction environments.
* Carry out earthworks, trenching, grading, drainage, formation rehabilitation, and general civil works.
* Conduct pre-start inspections and basic servicing of plant and equipment.
* Maintain compliance with rail safety requirements, site procedures, and company policies.
* Work effectively alongside supervisors, rail protection personnel, and other contractors.
* Identify and report hazards, incidents, and equipment defects.
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and workplace presentation.
* Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Experience operating two or more of the following is desirable: Excavators, Loaders, Rollers, Watercarts, Graders, Moxy / Articulated Dump Trucks.
* Previous experience operating mobile plant within civil construction or rail environments.
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Relevant plant operating tickets / VOCs.
* Construction White Card.
* Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug & alcohol testing.
* Ability to pass a Rail Medical Category 2 and/or 3 assessment.
* Ability to complete and pass a Sleep Apnea assessment where required under the STOPBANG screening process.
* Strong understanding of safe work practices and hazard management.
* Ability to work away from home on rostered shifts, which include weekends, and potentially nights when required.
* Right to live and work in the location.
Working Conditions
FIFO roster – 2 weeks on / 1 week off.
Flights to site are required to be undertaken in the employee's own time.
Point of hire: Perth.
Work is conducted in remote locations with limited or poor mobile phone service outside camp areas.
Camp accommodation is provided; however facilities may vary between sites and may not reflect mining village-style accommodation standards.
Work is performed within active rail and civil construction environments where toilet and welfare facilities will be limited whilst working on site.
Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in remote and physically demanding conditions.
