The Role
This role will see you reporting directly to the General Counsel. You will be responsible for offering legal support to the company. Additionally, you will:
* Provide strategic advice and legal guidance on both upstream and downstream contracts
* Provide high-quality commercial and legal support and contractual leadership to a growing portfolio of complex and diverse projects across all business streams
* Advising or facilitating external legal advice on material business issues and/or bespoke matters
* Reviewing, drafting, and/or negotiating a range of agreements
* Assisting internal clients to manage legal risk while aligning with business and strategic goals and priorities
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a talented construction lawyer with
a minimum of 8 years' PAE
. You will have relevant construction experience at a well regarded law firm or similar in-house role. In addition, you will have:
* Experience in drafting and negotiating both upstream and downstream contracts
* An ability to understand the bigger picture and to prioritise multiple tasks arising across multiple business lines
* Quality training (either in private practice or in-house)
* An ability to provide pragmatic and timely legal advice within a complex commercial and operational setting
* Clear and persuasive written and spoken communication skills
* Negotiation and drafting skills
* Familiarity with the building, infrastructure, and engineering landscape in Australia.
