Burdens is a market leader in plumbing and bathroom supplies with 15 trade and showroom locations across Melbourne metro and regional Victoria. We're looking for a commercially minded HR professional to join our 'values-led' organisation that sees its people as central to its ongoing success.
About the Role
This is a pivotal role where strategy meets execution in providing trusted support across the full employee lifecycle – from talent attraction to performance management, ER/IR, policy development, remuneration cycles, health and safety with genuine potential to influence the wider company's people initiatives.
Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
* Managing end-to-end recruitment
* Building talent pipelines via LinkedIn and SEEK
* Overseeing offers, onboarding and staff transfers
* Negotiating remuneration offers
* Reporting on pay, performance and workforce metrics
* Strengthening employer branding and EVP
Performance & Capabilities
* Leading bi-annual performance review cycles
* Coaching managers on goal‐setting, feedback, and performance management
* Reviewing competency and capability frameworks, Role Descriptions
* Advising and implementing remuneration structures, salary reviews and market benchmarking
Employee Relations/IR Matters
* Providing expert advice on ER/IR matters
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Fair Work NES/awards, and regulatory obligations
* Supporting leaders in case management, conflict resolution, and best-practice outcomes
HR Systems, Reporting & Policy
* Owning and optimizing the HRIS (Employment Hero), ensuring personnel data integrity
* Delivering accurate and insightful HR reporting and workforce analytics
* Maintaining compliant, contemporary HR policies and ensuring business‐wide adoption
Work Health and Safety
* Driving SafetyCulture, ensuring legislative compliance (WHS Act), and managing risk through policy development, incident investigation, and training
* Providing WHS advice to leaders, managing worker compensation/return-to-work, and physical and psychological health in the workplace
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Human Resources/Business (AHRI Membership preferred)
* Strong working knowledge of Australian employment law
* Experience in Recruitment/Talent Acquisition
* Performance management, job evaluations and salary benchmarking
* Up to date with IR/ER regulations and trends
* Commercial acumen and strong stakeholder engagement skills
* Proficiency using HRIS – 'Employment Hero' or similar
