The Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs (Bell School) is a world-leading centre for research, education, and policy analysis on international and Asia Pacific politics, security, diplomacy, and strategic affairs. The School comprises a number of vibrant, interdisciplinary, intellectual communities: the Department of International Relations, the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, the Department of Political and Social Change, and the Department of Pacific Affairs.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Research Associate to contribute to innovative research in defence policy. Reporting to the Chair in Military Studies, the successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including academic staff, policymakers, and external stakeholders, to deliver high-impact research and publications. The successful candidate will conduct research on strategic and defence policy, publish findings in high-quality academic journals, engage with stakeholders to translate research into actionable insights, and contribute to the teaching and mentoring of postgraduate students.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a related field, with demonstrated expertise in strategic and defence policy. They will have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience engaging with stakeholders in academic or policy contexts is essential.
