Due to continuous growth and an increase in commercial projects, we are seeking a talented and experienced WHS Advisor to join our team.
The Role:
As a WHS Advisor, you will work closely with our site managers and the commercial construction team to ensure the highest safety standards are met across all of our projects. Your role will focus on providing expert advice, guidance, and support to ensure that our work environments are as safe as possible. You will also assist in implementing and monitoring the Murphy Builders Integrated Management System (IMS) and contribute to fostering a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide WHS advice and guidance on relevant Codes of Practice (COP) and legislation.
* Support risk assessment development and review (SWMS, JSA, etc.) throughout project stages.
* Promote a "No Harm Culture" and a "Lost Time Injury" free workplace.
* Conduct safety inspections and ensure WHS compliance.
* Review safety management performance across projects.
* Maintain an 80% field presence and 20% office time across multiple projects.
* Advise on compliance with WHS management systems.
* Collaborate with Quality and Document Control Officer on WHS matters.
* Assist with WHS training and induction programs.
* Participate in WHS audits (internal and external ISO45001 & OFSC).
* Mentor and support project staff in achieving HSE KPIs.
* Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote safe practices.
* Ensure safety documentation is stored and maintained on-site.
* Work with site management to improve WHS systems.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Minimum of Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
* Strong knowledge of Queensland industry codes, standards, acts, and regulations.
* Proven experience with maintaining ISO45001 & OFSC accreditation.
* Proven experience in incident and risk management, as well as WHS advisory roles in construction.
* In-depth understanding of WHS legislation and construction safety practices.
* Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and influence others.
* Proactive, detail-oriented approach to safety management.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks while collaborating effectively within a team.
