Position Summary
Performs eye examinations and vision tests to determine the presence of visual, ocular and other abnormalities, and prescribes
lenses, other optical aids or therapy.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
• Coach, train and mentor other Optical department employees
• Exercise discretion and confidentiality with all patient information
• Examine patients and provide expert advice on eye care
• Perform routine eye inspections
• Diagnose sight problems by performing eye tests
• Maintain accurate files for members
• Prescribe and dispense glasses and contact lenses
• Follow proper Optical Centre and general safety policies, procedures and standards
• Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
• Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and suppliers.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
• Computer, phone, copier, cash register, cardboard baler, trash compactor, hand held scanner, pupilometer,
lensometer, frame warmer, small pliers and screwdriver.
Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess)
Education/Training: High School Certificate or higher Training and apprenticeship or degree in Optometry (as required by state)
Licenses/Certifications: Certificate IV Optical Dispensing
Registered and licenced with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency /
Optometry Board of Australia
Experience/Skills: Appropriate Optometry or equivalent experience
Demonstrated outstanding patient care
Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
Basic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Basic math skills
