The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit several Local Logistics Project Officers to work in our Census Field Operations Support team from March to November
About the roles
As a Local Logistics Project Officer, you will be required to do some, or all the following:
* work as part of a national team; communicating clearly with the wider team about work progress, issues, team directions and key decisions
* coordinate the collection and reallocation of materials from field staff and support logistics requests
* liaise with businesses as needed to secure and book temporary storage facilities where needed
* move, lift and transport cartons of materials manually or using appropriate equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet jacks)
* ensure safe and secure placement and storage of materials in designated areas
* utilise the logistics provider's booking and tracking systems
* maintain accurate internal materials tracking systems
* assist with loading and unloading deliveries
* maintain a clean and organised storage area
* follow all workplace health and safety procedures
* ensure high levels of confidentiality and security of Census information and materials
* undertake a combination of procedural, operational and administrative duties
* implement improvements and changes in field or office procedures or processes.
The APS 5 role has a greater level of responsibility, including handling more complex issues and supervising APS 4 staff.

The successful candidates will possess all, or most of the following:
* ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals
* ability to engage with businesses/and or the public as needed
* available to work on site in the office on a daily basis
* a valid driver's licence and willingness to regularly drive to an off-site storage facility location and carry out other material deliveries and picks ups as required
* a reasonable level of fitness with the ability to regularly lift and carry moderately heavy items safely
* a good working understanding of safe manual handling techniques
* ability to demonstrate good judgement in problem solving and decision making, and effectively manage risks
* enthusiasm to take initiative to quickly acquire a working knowledge of operational procedures
* strong oral and written communication skills
* ability to foster cooperation and achieve outcomes across programs
* ability to quickly acquire the skills to use a range of office systems and applications
* ability to follow direction and procedures.
