**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
The EL1 Assistant Director Employment Programs is responsible for leading a team to support delivery of DEWR programs in Tasmania. The team has responsibility for contract management and stakeholder engagement activities across a number of skills and employment programs. You and your team will monitor program and provider performance, manage contracts, resolve issues, and drive place-based projects to achieve outcomes for individuals and business.
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Work with contracted providers in Tasmania to deliver quality employment and related services in line with program and contract expectations and guidelines.
- Collate, interpret, and synthesise information from a range of sources to provide accurate and relevant insights into and advice on the operation of employment programs and provider performance against program and contract requirements.
- Provide regular feedback to program owners and senior staff within the department on local intelligence, and program outcomes within the context of the Tasmanian labour market.
- Manage communication and cultivate productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employment services providers, local, state and commonwealth public officers, employers, and other relevant parties.

- Understanding of labour market issues in Tasmania, or the ability to acquire this.
**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Education; Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and APS employees as a temporary transfer at level opportunity for a period of 10 months with a possibility of extension.
**Qualifications and Education**
- Previous experience with Australian Government program or contract management **(desirable).**
