With around 50 employees, we develop satellite technologies and are building several spacecraft for civilian and defence customers. We have developed a family of small satellite platforms and provide a complete turnkey satellite mission solution from mission design to spacecraft design, manufacture, integration, test, delivery, and operations. We also provide services to Defence in several key areas, including electronic warfare, simulation and modelling and space surveillance.

Position Broad Purpose
We are seeking a Graduate Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic satellite technologies team at Lot Fourteen. You will work within a team of experienced engineers across multiple disciplines to design and build satellite solutions.
As a graduate you will be integrated within the software team from day one and provided with support, mentoring, and learning opportunities to support your early career development.
We have a modern approach to satellite design and software engineering, and use the latest technologies across our platform. Our company is unique within Australia in that we develop the electronics and software for almost every component of our spacecraft platform including flight computers, batteries, solar power systems, sensors, actuators, and radios. To date Inovor has three satellite platforms operational in orbit and more missions in progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing embedded software in C/C++ for microcontroller and embedded Linux platforms.
- Digital systems design and FPGA development.
- Developing support and testing software using C/C++/Python.
- Qualifying system functionality using lab equipment and test software.
- Supporting the operation of in-orbit spacecraft by assisting with commissioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Working with other engineering disciplines to contribute to the design of spacecraft.
- Unit and integration testing with CI tools.
- Documentation of software designs.
Reporting Relationships and Key Stakeholders
This position reports to the Spacecraft Software Team Leader.
- The position will work closely with: Our multi-disciplinary technical team; Our project management team.
Tertiary engineering qualification in Software, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
High attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Software development in C or C++.
Communication skills and emotional intelligence that supports working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Problem solving skills and motivation to work through complex challenges that are not widely encountered.
Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security clearance requirements.
- Basic electronics knowledge and experience working with lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analysers.
- Experience with any of the following:
- Embedded software development, including Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Object-Oriented Programming
- Python
- Version control with git
- Embedded Linux software development
- Digital systems design and FPGA development (eg VHDL or Verilog)
- Control systems or robotics
