Job Summary
This position is responsible for promoting a culture of safety within the organization by implementing and enforcing standard operational procedures and safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a team in developing and executing fire safety techniques, scheduling drills, and evaluating performance effectiveness.
* Develop departmental activities, orientate, and train new team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
* Collaborate with Human Resources to manage team member issues and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for HVAC systems and boilers.
* Work closely with vendors to obtain quotes and oversee the completion of assigned tasks.
* Administer the operating budget and prepare purchase orders to ensure efficient resource allocation.
* Prepare written reports on risk management to inform senior leadership of potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A Bachelor's degree in facility operation and maintenance or equivalent education and experience.
* Minimum 5 years of experience working with commercial or residential building systems.
* Hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, heating plants, HVAC, or carpentry.
* Thorough knowledge of building systems and related repairs.
* Class 4 Boiler Certification is an asset.
Experience working with seniors in retirement living or long-term care environments is beneficial.
