Overview of Position
The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the material, people, and equipment required to build a new product are set up in Salesforce, tracked in Celoxis, and organized on the production line. You will influence project direction to ensure scalability is considered from the outset.
This role involves working closely with the project manager, purchasing, production engineers, R&D, and the production manager. It is well-suited for a technically-minded individual with high attention to detail and the ability to influence others towards the business's commercial needs.
What you'll do
* Perform electronics diagnostics and repairs on production electronic components and subassemblies or provide instructions for technicians.
* Conduct root cause analysis on failed materials, production failures, and customer returns to determine repairs or corrective actions to minimize scrap and improve quality.
* Support the production team with technical expertise to minimize stoppages and meet targets, including training sessions and workshops.
* Verify production jigs and equipment for suitability prior to use.
* Inspect the first batch of new or modified components or assemblies.
* Implement and train the team on new products in production.
* Assess new products for manufacturability and recommend design changes, processes, suppliers, and equipment for scaled manufacturing.
* Research and evaluate manufacturing processes to meet production goals, engaging with suppliers for mutually beneficial relationships.
* Drive continuous improvement and manage change by troubleshooting and advising on technical process improvements with R&D.
Qualifications, skills & experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Systems with 4+ years in a similar role and industry.
* Established relationships with relevant suppliers (PCBA, BON, Test Fixtures).
* Experience in assembling and fabricating advanced electronic products.
* Ability to operate equipment and learn from suppliers in areas like Level Tables, Dispensing, PCBA, Motion Simulators.
* Quick learner with deep technical capabilities in challenging domains.
* Experience measuring and reporting production metrics.
* Basic knowledge of software (Java, C, C++), electronics, and mechanical design processes.
* Strong problem-solving, fault-finding, and debugging skills.
* High attention to detail with accurate technical documentation skills.
* Motivated, energetic, responsive, and decisive.
