Seismic Data Processing and Imaging Specialist
This position is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering seismic model building and imaging projects. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in seismic data processing and imaging, ensuring high-quality results that meet business requirements.
The role involves assessing the quality of legacy seismic datasets, proposing solutions for their improvement, and framing and costing up in-house seismic model building and imaging projects. Additionally, the specialist will mature and optimize workflows for delivering in-house seismic imaging solutions, contribute to the establishment of a robust platform for transitioning new processes/tools/algorithms into production, and support the management of geophysical data quality from acquisition through processing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plan, execute, and deliver in-house seismic model building and imaging projects for internal customers across the business.
* Assess the quality of legacy seismic datasets and propose solutions for their improvement.
* Contribute towards the establishment of a robust platform (including CI/CD practices) for transitioning new processes/tools/algorithms from development into production.
* Interface with the Engineering & Technology group and actively support the research and development of novel approaches to seismic imaging and inversion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A minimum of ten years working in seismic imaging and data processing is strongly preferred.
* Experience in project management for seismic imaging and experience in high-performance computing, cloud computing, scientific programming (Python as a minimum; ideally FORTRAN, C, and MATLAB) and developing seismic processing/imaging algorithms.
* Experience working in a research environment and with open-source tools.
* Experience using wave-equation-based seismic inversion/imaging tools (in particular, FWI).
* Experience working with fibre-optic strain-rate data considered a plus.
Benefits:
* Commitment to your ongoing development, including on-the-job opportunities, formal programs, coaching, and mentoring.
* Industry-leading paid parental leave for primary carer, and maintenance of superannuation or retirement benefits at the current rate during any period of unpaid parental leave for up to 24 months.
