About the Position

Flinders University is entering an exciting period of innovation and growth in Social Work education under its Impact with Purpose Agenda 2035, with a strong focus on student success, workforce readiness, and community impact. We are seeking an Associate Professor in Social Work Education (AI Literacy and Ethics) to provide strategic leadership across teaching, research, and engagement, strengthening the University's profile and impact at national and international levels. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of Social Work education and research through leadership in artificial intelligence, ethics, and data justice. You will play a key role in advancing critical, responsible, and inclusive approaches to technology in social work, ensuring graduates are equipped to navigate increasingly complex, digitally mediated practice environments.

In this position, you will:

* Provide sustained leadership in teaching and curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate programs
* Lead high-quality research and engagement, including publications, competitive funding, and community impact
* Supervise and mentor Honours and Research Higher Degree students, and support early career researchers
* Build and sustain strategic partnerships with community, government, and industry at national and/or international levels
* Contribute to leadership within the discipline, College, and University, including accreditation and quality assurance processes

About You

You are an established academic leader in Social Work with a strong record of excellence across teaching, research, and engagement. You bring a national and/or international profile, with demonstrated success in advancing scholarship, securing research funding, and delivering meaningful impact for communities and the profession. You have a strong interest or expertise in artificial intelligence, ethics, and/or data justice, and understand their implications for social work education and practice.

* A PhD in Social Work or a closely related discipline, and eligibility for AASW membership
* A strong record of teaching and curriculum leadership, including innovation in contemporary or digitally enabled learning
* An established research profile, including high-quality publications and competitive grant success
* Expertise or demonstrated interest in AI, ethics, data justice, or technology in social work contexts
* Experience supervising HDR students and building partnerships across community, government, and industry
