Financial Accountant (Contract with possibility of permanent)
Location: Arundel, QLD (onsite, street parking available)
Contract Dates: June 2025 – December 2025 with possibility of extension afterwards
Work Hours: 7:00am – 3:00pm (flexible), 38 hours/week
Purpose of the Role:
This newly created position supports the finance team in delivering accurate and timely management and financial reporting. The role involves preparing month-end journals, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and managing project claims.
Team Structure & Culture:
The successful candidate will work alongside a Financial Lead, Accountant, and Assistant Accountant. The environment is collaborative, yet requires someone confident to work independently once settled. A proactive approach, strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are essential, particularly given the role’s heavy use of Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collating and processing client claims within tight deadlines
* Preparing journals, cost allocations, and cost transfers
* Assisting with reporting and reconciliation tasks
* Supporting process improvements and maintaining documentation
* Communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers and clients
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Experience in project accounting, cost control, financial reconciliations, and claims
* Strong Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF)
* Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a finance/project environment
* CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards qualification
* SAP experience is a plus
* This role is not focused on accounts payable/receivable
Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour + super (depending on experience) + super
