The Role
QR_ is currently expanding its activity in Australia and we are looking for a Naval Architect to join our Melbourne team.
* Provide high level of engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
* Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to Naval Architecture and Outfitting
* Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification.
* Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established standards.
* Work effectively within the broader Engineering Team to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs.
* Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
* Follow State WHSE Acts, Regulations and accountability with leadership for the safety and wellbeing of staff and their commitment to protect the environment.
* Exercise due diligence by taking reasonable steps to acquire and keep up‐to‐date knowledge of work health and safety & Environmental matters and ensuring information regarding incidents, hazards and risks is received as soon as practicable and action is implemented in a timely way
Must Have
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a professional engineer.
* Proven skills and experience in a Naval Architecture function.
* Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment.
* Familiarity and understanding of statutory regulations and Classification and Flag state rule sets.
* Familiarity and experience of ship structural design and its application to local structure and foundations.
* Familiarity and experience of ship systems design and its impact upon integration.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
* Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently.
* Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and Clients.
