Program Coordinator - Follow the Dream at Department of Education, Western Australia

This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.

The Role

The Follow the Dream program is a voluntary out‑of‑school education program targeted at aspirational and high‑achieving Aboriginal students in Years 7 to 12 in Western Australia (WA). It aims to support Indigenous students to excel academically, complete secondary schooling and achieve other tertiary placements such as Vocational Education and Training (VET), an apprenticeship or traineeship, or employment of their choice. The College motto highlights the importance of supporting our students to reach their full potential through collaboration with stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be an experienced teacher with strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous students, families and staff. You will use your energetic and positive attitude to motivate and support Indigenous students to reach their highest potential. This position offers a lasting impact on our students.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Carnarvon Community College in 2026 are eligible for the Temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4,000 (per annum, gross – adjusted pro‑rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff receive a percentage of this payment on commencement, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to receive the second payment.

Eligibility

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

* Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership that builds capacity, deals effectively with change and generates innovative solutions related to achieving educational outcomes.
* Demonstrated highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to conduct research, prepare reports and establish effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve planned outcomes.
