Your tasks
* Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager:
* Work with the Project Mechanical Design Team Lead to design and develop mechanical solutions
* Maintain and update all technical information to ensure that design documents are kept up to date
* Produce innovative and cost effective mechanical designs
* Manage and execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on operational feedback.
* Review BOMs for accuracy and cost-effectiveness and updating when required.
Your qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualification in mechanical, mechatronic or similar engineering (mandatory).
* 3-5 years demonstratable mechanical design experience preferably in a defence environment
* Eligible for RPEQ or NER registration
* Australian citizen
* Eligible for a Baseline Security Clearance
* Experience working in a defence project environment preferred
* Experience in mechanical design for electronic systems in a maritime environment preferred.
* Strong skills in 3D AutoCAD Inventor modelling, FEA, and drafting techniques, with familiarity with AS1100 standards.
* Strong mechanical aptitude
* Experience designing sheet metal enclosures and working with rack enclosures.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes, basic electrical/electronic systems, and relevant Australian Standards.
* Ability to manage shifting project demands in a dynamic work environment with excellent time management.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
