Operations manager

Hobart
Searson Buck
Posted: 8 March
Offer description

Our client, an established Tasmanian organisation delivering statewide healthcare, transport, training and event services is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and strengthen operations across multiple service streams. With approximately 65 staff and a growing northern presence, the organisation is entering a key period of expansion — and requires a hands-on leader who can stabilise, structure and scale.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will serve as the senior operational leader for the organisation. This is not an office‑bound role — it is deeply embedded in day‑to‑day activity, workforce management and service delivery. The successful candidate will oversee statewide operations, formalise systems, drive performance and compliance, and support strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
You will ensure seamless delivery across outreach health services, non‑emergency patient transport, training operations, event medical services and administrative functions.

Systems & Formalisation
A major focus will be reviewing and formalising operational systems. This includes strengthening workforce processes, compliance frameworks, reporting structures and accountability measures across all divisions.

People Leadership & Performance
You will lead a predominantly casual workforce, oversee performance management, support disciplinary processes and develop leadership capability within the team. Creating a supportive yet accountable culture is essential.

Compliance & Governance
The position oversees compliance across multiple regulated environments, including NEPT operations, WHS obligations, clinical governance structures and training/RTO requirements. Ensuring documentation and systems remain audit‑ready will be critical.

Growth & Commercial Support
The organisation is experiencing strong demand, particularly in Northern Tasmania. You will support growth initiatives, strengthen external relationships, contribute to tender preparation and assist with budgetary oversight.

Fleet & Asset Oversight
You will ensure the operational fleet remains compliant, maintained and deployment‑ready.

About You
You will bring at least five years of senior operational leadership experience within a multi‑division or complex service organisation. You excel in busy, workforce‑driven environments and are a strong systems thinker with demonstrated experience in performance management, compliance oversight and process improvement. Industry experience is open — healthcare knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
You are organised, execution‑focused, calm under pressure and capable of balancing accountability with genuine team support. You enjoy being hands‑on and are comfortable travelling statewide as needed.

This role is not a clinical position or a passive coordination role. We are looking for a true operational leader who is not looking for a standard 9-5 job!

How to Apply
If you are an experienced operations leader ready to make a significant impact within a growing Tasmanian organisation, we would love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
