The Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems – Maritime Systems Program Office (EWIS-Maritime SPO) is seeking a motivated APS6 Configuration Officer to contribute to the effective delivery of Defence capability. In this role, you will apply a strong understanding of Configuration Management principles to undertake complex technical configuration activities in support of engineering and technical functions. You will be accountable for the quality, accuracy and compliance of configuration outputs, exercising assigned technical authorities in line with relevant legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks.
You will engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, tailoring your communication to support effective decision-making and outcomes. Your work will include developing, reviewing and assessing technical packages, identifying risks and recommending improvements to processes, documentation and equipment performance. Working within a small and agile team, you will be expected to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and contribute positively to team performance.
The role may include supervision or mentoring of a less experienced team member, requiring a supportive and collaborative leadership style. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy while remaining aligned with Defence mission objectives, safety requirements and configuration management best practice. About our Team
EWIS-Maritime SPO currently manages a number of Electronic Warfare systems fitted to both the surface and sub-surface fleet, such as the Nulka Decoy product and various Sensors and Electronic Attack products in both acquisition and sustainment phases. The SPO delivers these capabilities to both the Australian Defence Force and United States Navy. EWIS-Maritime SPO is widely dispersed across Australia with this position based at Russell, ACT.
The successful applicant will participate in an integrated team, including APS, military and contractor staff, to ensure the supported Electronic Warfare capabilities are delivered to the ADF and supported in accordance with policy and compliance requirements, and agreements. The Configuration Officer APS6 role offers an enthusiastic individual an exciting opportunity to learn and increase configuration management skills in a Defence environment. * A strong foundation in Configuration Management principles and practices, with experience undertaking complex technical configuration activities aligned to agreed priorities and outcomes.
* Sound professional judgement and accountability, including the ability to exercise assigned technical authorities and any applicable Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
* Well-developed analytical skills, applying technical knowledge to assess technical packages, documentation, processes and product or equipment performance against specified requirements.
* A risk- aware approach, identifying risks and uncertainties and incorporating these into planning, decision-making and priority setting.
* Clear and adaptable communication skills, with the ability to tailor your messaging for varied technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience developing, reviewing and recommending technical packages, including scoping, planning and continuous improvement activities.
* A collaborative and flexible mindset, contributing positively within a small team and adapting to changing priorities and ways of working.
* The ability to provide occasional guidance or supervision, including supporting and mentoring a less experienced team member when required.

* Effective management of technical knowledge, maintaining currency in relevant products, equipment, processes and configuration documentation.
