The Opportunity A keyFederal Government Departmentis seeking an experiencedSenior Software Engineer (EL1 equivalent)to deliver critical capability within a high-profile Defence and cyber security program.This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant systems, take ownership of complex software engineering activities, and work within a highly secure, technically advanced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and driveend-to-end software development, from design through to deployment and sustainment Interpret technical specifications to build, maintain and enhance scalable applications Providetechnical leadership and mentoringto engineering teams Design and develop complex software systems aligned with secure development practices Implement and upliftCI/CD pipelines, automation, and system integration frameworks Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards and security requirements Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements AGSVA Clearance RequirementCurrent TSPV or TSPA Clearance (essential) Skills & ExperienceDemonstrated experience aligned toSFIA Level 5in software engineering and systems integration Strong development capability inJava and Python, with exposure toC++ Experience working inLinux/UNIX environments Strong skills inSQL, data manipulation, and data transformation Experience with tools/platforms such as: Cloudera, Apache Airflow Splunk, OpenSearch, Elastic Azure or other cloud platforms Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence)Experience incyber security or secure environmentshighly desirable Knowledge ofCI/CD, DevOps practices, and integration frameworks Understanding ofUX/UI design principles(desirable) Experience with Linux/Windows system administration Key CapabilitiesAbility todesign and lead complex systems, including architectural decision-making and trade-offs Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to providespecialist technical advice Experience contributing toengineering standards, governance, and best practices Proven ability to operate insecure, mission-critical environment How to Apply If you are an experienced Software Engineer looking to make an impact within Government and Defence, apply now or email your CV directly to Andy@approachconsult.com.au #J-18808-Ljbffr
