Job Overview
The position of Environmental Specialist is responsible for driving environmental compliance and pursuing best practices. The role will involve managing capital project work, day-to-day operations, and supporting the delivery of key project approvals.
* Develop and coordinate environmental activities, including environmental monitoring programs.
* Prepare accurate environmental performance and compliance reports as required.
* Contribute to improving community and government relations by assessing and responding to community complaints and environmental incidents.
* Engage and direct contractors and consultants as needed to assist with environmental management activities.
* Drive continual improvement and site compliance.
* Demonstrate visible in-field environmental leadership, excellence, and best practice.
* Engage directly with regulators, near neighbors, and landholders.
* Provide support for environment approvals.
* Promote industry-leading land management and rehabilitation outcomes for the site.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Tertiary qualifications in environmental management or a related field.
* A minimum of 10 years' experience as an environmental professional.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with regulators and key government stakeholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in consultant and contractor supervision.
* A working knowledge of NSW environmental regulatory frameworks.
* Sound community liaison capabilities.
* High-level computer literacy and competency with mapping software (e.g., Office, SAP/Pulse, Mapinfo/ArcGIS).
