The Opportunity We are partnering with a leading industry superannuation fund with a strong track record and over 30 years of history. Reporting to the General Manager, Finance, the Head of Finance plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the organisation’s financial management, governance, and operations. This position is central to delivering high‑quality financial insights, supporting strategic decision‑making, and ensuring compliance within a highly regulated environment. This is a broad and hands‑on role offering end‑to‑end exposure across finance, with the opportunity to influence outcomes at an executive level.
Key Responsibilities Finance Operations
Lead day-to-day finance operations across a lean team
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
Manage cashflow, liquidity and banking relationships
Maintain a strong internal control environment and governance framework
Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and efficiency
Financial Reporting
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting outputs
Lead external reporting and audit processes
Deliver meaningful performance reporting and insights
Support Board and Committee reporting with clear, decision-useful outputs
Oversee APRA and regulatory reporting requirements
Financial Insights & Business Partnering
Translate financial data into actionable insights
Partner with stakeholders to drive cost discipline and accountability
Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning
Provide input into pricing, resource allocation and strategic initiatives
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead and develop a small, high-performing team
Engage effectively with senior leadership and key stakeholders
Manage external relationships, including auditors and regulators
Strategic Alignment
Support execution of the organisation’s financial strategy
Ensure alignment across financial management, risk, and business objectives
Strengthen data-driven decision-making across the organisation
Key Requirements
10+ years’ experience in senior finance roles within financial services
Strong background across financial control, reporting and FP&A
Experience operating in a regulated environment (APRA exposure advantageous)
Commercially minded with strong analytical capability
Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
High levels of integrity, accountability and attention to detail
Hands‑on, pragmatic and solutions-focused
Strong leadership capability with experience developing teams
