Temporary Compensible Patient Administration Officer needed on an initial 2-month contract

Your new company
Our State Government client is seeking Compensable Patient Administration Officers to join our team for an initial 8‑week contract, with the possibility of extension. This is a dynamic, patient‑facing role that supports private patient administration across both inpatient areas and the Emergency Department. The position requires flexibility to work across a seven‑day roster between 7:00am and 10:00pm. The role involves approximately 60% walking and patient engagement, and 40% computer‑based administrative work.

Your new role

* Conduct private health eligibility checks for new, day, repeat, and ED patients.
* Visit wards and the Emergency Department to meet patients, discuss private health options, and complete required documentation.
* Deliver and explain private patient incentive packs.
* Complete, scan, and upload patient paperwork onto relevant internal systems.
* Update administrative databases and spreadsheets, recording policy details, paperwork status, pack numbers, follow‑up dates, and other required information.
* Action system edit checks and invoice flags to support accurate and timely billing.
* Prepare, organise, and restock private patient packs.
* Answer inbound calls from patients, ward staff, and external organisations.
* Work collaboratively within a rotating team to ensure consistent coverage across all CPAO functions.
* Ensure all documentation is complete and appropriately forwarded to the relevant billing team.
What you'll need to succeed
* Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work confidently with patients and staff at all levels.
* High standard of customer service and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
* Competent computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
* Knowledge of healthcare financial or billing processes, with training provided.
* Comfortable with a role that requires significant walking (60%) alongside computer‑based administration (40%).
