About the Role
A
leading Defence Department
is seeking experienced
Lead Cyber Security Specialists
to support the protection of Australia's most critical infrastructure. This role sits at the forefront of national cyber security, delivering independent, end-to-end assessments across complex
Information Technology (IT)
and
Operational Technology (OT)
environments.
You will be responsible for assessing cyber security posture, identifying vulnerabilities, and providing practical, risk-based recommendations to improve resilience across systems critical to Australia's national security.
Applicants must hold a
current NV2 security clearance
to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and conduct cyber security assessments across complex IT and OT environments
* Evaluate the effectiveness of technical, procedural, and governance security controls
* Deliver clear, actionable cyber security advice to uplift critical infrastructure resilience
* Validate cyber security posture through technical tooling, documentation reviews, and stakeholder workshops
* Contribute to risk governance processes by providing expert input on security risks, mitigations, and technical risk
Essential Experience
* 3–5+ years' experience in a cyber security role
* Strong understanding of industry best-practice frameworks, tools, and methodologies for cyber security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation
* Broad knowledge of operational technology environments and cyber security controls within critical infrastructure
* Solid understanding of cyber security and privacy principles across the information lifecycle
* Strong awareness of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and legacy systems designed without modern security considerations
* Proven ability to prepare and present briefings and engage stakeholders at all levels
Highly Desirable
* Experience conducting cyber risk assessments and system reviews
* Strong technical writing skills, including development of assessment and assurance reports
* Ability to interpret outputs from security and assessment tooling
* Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in cyber security practices, supported by relevant industry certifications
