Javelin Aerospace is seeking an experienced Design and Certification Engineer to join our team in Warana, QLD. This position provides a rare opportunity to work on diverse and challenging engineering projects while gaining valuable experience in the aviation industry.
As a CASR Part 21.M approved design organisation, our core business centres on airworthiness certification and regulatory compliance across fixed and rotary wing aircraft. We work closely with operators and regulators to deliver compliant, mission ready aircraft repair and modifications under CASA, EASA and FAA frameworks.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who performs well in a dynamic project environment, responds constructively to evolving technical findings and regulatory requirements, and is eager to deepen their expertise in certification engineering. While a sound technical engineering foundation is important, initiative, structured project delivery capability, client engagement skills, and clear communication are equally critical to success in this role.
Applicants must be based on the Sunshine Coast or be willing to relocate to our headquarters in Warana, Queensland.

Key Responsibilities
Interpret project briefs and collaborate with internal engineers, clients, maintainers and regulatory representatives to define certification strategies and applicable regulatory frameworks;
Develop certification plans, compliance matrices and supporting documentation in accordance with airworthiness standards;
Prepare engineering reports and substantiation documents for minor and major modifications;
Engage with CASA and, where applicable, EASA or FAA representatives to support approval activities and technical discussions;
Conduct compliance assessments against Parts 23, 25, 27 and 29, and associated advisory material;
Review engineering data, drawings and analyses to ensure alignment with approved design data and regulatory intent;
Maintain accurate certification records and configuration control in accordance with company and regulatory requirements;
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal certification and compliance processes;
Stay current with developments in airworthiness legislation and guidance material.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline;
Minimum 1 year of direct experience in airworthiness certification or regualtory compliance within an aviation environment;
Working knowledge of CASR 21M processes and applicable airworthiness standards;
Working proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD (preferred), SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar;
Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes;
Effective client engagement skills, with the ability to manage expectations and communicate effectively;
Excellent attention to detail, problem solving capability, and written and verbal communication skills;

Applicants able to demonstrate prior experience designing medical devices, pressure vessels or other components for aerospace, defence or medical industries will be highly regarded.
