About the role:
Talis is seeking the services of an Engineering Section Leader based in our Perth office with significant experience on Engineering projects to lead the growth of our Engineering Team. Talis' Engineering Team includes a variety of Civil and Structure Engineers which to date have delivered a range of public works style projects including roads, drainage and industrial structures.
The Talis board recognises significant growth potential for our current Engineering Team and is seeking the right person that can deliver on the that potential, including expanding our current service offering, advancing into new sectors and geographies.
The primary objective of the Engineering Section Leader is to help achieve company goals as a member of the company leadership team. The successful candidate will develop and manage the Engineering Section to achieve its financial and other business objectives and targets. There is also the potential for involvement in the engineering aspects of Asset Management and Waste projects.
The primary responsibilities of the Engineering Section Leader include but are not limited to:
* Provide strong team leadership.
* Preparation and implementation of the Engineering Section's annual business development plan and budget.
* Ensure the financial performance of the Engineering Section is progressing in accordance with the annual budget.
* Ensure compliance within the Engineering Section of our legal obligations, such as those relating to OH&S, employment of staff and commercial contracts.
* Oversee and expand our Engineering capabilities.
* Develop and secure Engineering business opportunities in both the Public and Private sectors to ensure that staff of the Engineering Section have high levels of utilisation.
* Provide technical leadership on design, documentation, tendering, contract administration, construction supervision and construction quality assurance of engineering projects.
* Work independently and autonomously to drive the Section's growth and offer guidance to the Section's Team Leaders to oversee their growth and development.
* Provide engineering technical input as required to projects undertaken by other sections.
* Application of engineering techniques, procedures and standards.
Position Requirements:
* Civil/Structural Engineering Degree or similar.
* Preference for consultancy, local government or industry experience of approximately 15 years or above.
* Experience in managing teams and securing Engineering business opportunities.
* Technical understanding of earthworks, roads, drainage, structures and other engineering works.
* Experience and proven track record in business development with a strong market presence.
* Excellent reporting and communication skills.
* Excellent leadership and people skills.
* Excellent decision-making ability.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with current and potential clients and to win work for the Section.
