About the role
Awana Care Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Palmerston, NT. This is a casual position, offering the flexibility to balance your work and personal commitments. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering and supporting individuals with disability to live their best lives.
What you'll be doing
* Providing personalised, one-on-one support to clients with a range of disabilities, including assisting with daily living activities, social and recreational participation, and community engagement
* Implementing individualised support plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each client
* Advocating for client rights and ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
* Collaborating with the broader care team to coordinate seamless service delivery
* Promoting independence, choice and control for the individuals you support
What we're looking for
* A minimum of 1 year of experience in a disability or aged care support role
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families
* A strong understanding of person-centred approaches and a commitment to upholding the rights and choices of individuals with disability
* Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others
* A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), or a willingness to undertake this training
* A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
* A current First Aid certificate and experience using assistive equipment and technologies
