Overview
We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Programmer, Machinist/ First-class Metal Machinist to join our workshop team. In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with our Senior Machinist to manufacture precision components for our advanced engine systems. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, high-performance environment where craftsmanship and continuous improvement go hand in hand.
What you'll be doing
- Collaborate with the leadership team to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules
- Interpret technical drawings and job orders to determine machining requirements
- Set up and operate machining equipment—including HAAS CNC machines (3, 4, and 5 Axis (UMC750) and live tooling lathe) and manual machine tools—according to Bespoke Engineering practices
- Maintain high standards and tight tolerances
- Use precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometres, vernier callipers) to verify accuracy and quality
- Inspection using trade practices and engineering knowledge
- Operate computer-assisted design and engineering software to support machining tasks (we use Onshape, Solidcam and Fusion360)
- Support metalworking projects from planning through to assembly, testing, and final inspection
- Maintain clean, safe, and functional workspaces; report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
What we're looking for
- Possession of relevant trade qualifications, whether newly attained or backed by extensive industry experience in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) fitting and machining or equivalent Certificate III qualifications
- Knowledge of engines and automotive practices (advantageous but not essential)
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to precision machining
- Willingness to learn and adapt within a fast-paced, collaborative workshop environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and production schedules
- Knowledge in metalworking, brazing, welding, heat-treating, fabrication, and cutting equipment (advantageous but not essential)
- Australian work rights (citizenship, permanent residency or valid work visa)
- A proactive attitude toward safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement
