Assistant Commissioner, Community

* Total Remuneration Package Range starting from $310,886 to $348,305
Your role The Assistant Commissioner, Community leads the delivery of high‑quality community corrections and women’s correctional services across Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW). This is a significant senior leadership role responsible for driving an integrated, end‑to‑end corrections framework that enhances community safety, reduces reoffending, and supports the safe transition of offenders between custody and community. You will shape and deliver strategy, oversee statewide performance, and champion best‑practice approaches that meet legislative obligations and community expectations.
What you’ll do As the Assistant Commissioner, Community you will:
* Lead the statewide delivery of Community Corrections and women’s correctional services, ensuring a high‑performance, contemporary and integrated operating model.
* Oversee the effective supervision and case management of high‑risk offenders, sentenced and unsentenced female inmates, and individuals transitioning from custody to community.
* Direct strategic and business planning aligned with Government and CSNSW priorities, ensuring resources, assets and budgets are optimised.
* Provide authoritative advice to senior executives, the Commissioner and key stakeholders on operational performance, reform, risk and community safety matters.
* Foster strong relationships with internal and external partners across the justice system to support collaborative, evidence‑based interventions that reduce reoffending.
* Champion cultural change, workforce capability, and continuous improvement across large, dispersed and complex operations.
* Promote integrated governance frameworks to ensure safe, effective and accountable service delivery.

What we’re looking for
* A senior executive with extensive experience leading large, complex, geographically dispersed operational portfolios.
* Deep expertise in community‑based and custodial corrections, including case management, offender rehabilitation and reintegration.
* Demonstrated capability in major change leadership, culture transformation and delivering improved operational performance.
* Strong stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to navigate sensitive issues and build commitment across diverse agencies and partners.
* Highly developed communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decisions at senior and Ministerial levels.
* Proven ability to manage substantial budgets, optimise resources and ensure operational compliance within a complex public sector environment.
* A values‑driven, people‑focused leader committed to safe, humane, effective and high‑quality correctional services.
