A well-known Local Council located in South Brisbane are seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join their team and provide administrative support to the Senior Accounts Payable Officer for account charges, requests and invoices.
Your new role
* Assist the Senior Accounts Payable Officer with account changes, requests, and invoice management.
* Maintain supplier details, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
* Manage records of individuals and companies.
* Ensure all invoices comply with tax legislation and are authorised for payment.
* Verify data for refunds and sundry payment requests.
* Manage invoice processing and automation.
* Generate payment runs and maintain a cheque register.
* Reconcile supplier statements monthly and identify outstanding invoices.
* Prepare weekly reports for overdue invoices.
* Respond to customer enquiries about payment terms, tax compliance, and invoice payments.
* Undertake other duties within your skills and training.
What you'll need to succeed
* Excellent attention to detail for accurate invoice processing and data verification.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Efficiently maintain supplier details and generate payment runs.
* Prioritise tasks to meet deadlines for reconciliations and reports.
* Experience with Technology One .
* Strong understanding of compliance (ASIC, ATO, Council policies).
* Analytical skills for reconciling statements and preparing reports.
* Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
* Problem-solving abilities for payment terms, tax compliance, and invoice issues.
What you'll get in return
* Local council based in South Brisbane
* Attractive hourly rate $36-40 p/h + super depending on experience
* Short-term contract with possible extension from 6th May 2025 - 30th June 2025
* On-site parking
* 38hrs per week
