Talent Mining and Minerals is proud to recruit for a global OEM leader in high-performance slurry pumping solutions for the mining and minerals processing industries. As the company expands across Australia, they are seeking a Key Accounts Application Engineer to strengthen partnerships with major mining clients, with a focus on brownfield projects where upgrades, replacements, and plant optimization are critical.
Position Overview This is a hybrid role combining application engineering expertise with key account management. The successful candidate will work with major mining operators, engineering consultants, and project teams to influence specifications, support plant upgrades, and deliver tailored solutions that improve uptime and reduce costs. You will act as a trusted technical advisor and strategic partner, ensuring that the company\'s slurry pump solutions deliver tangible operational and commercial value in Australia\'s demanding mining environments.
Location
Based in Perth, Western Australia. Travel to client operations and project sites across Australia as required.
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for key mining accounts. Develop and maintain strong relationships with engineers, procurement teams, and senior stakeholders.
- Brownfield Project Engineering: Identify pump replacement, upgrade, and optimisation opportunities. Conduct system assessments and prepare proposals that balance technical, operational, and cost requirements.
- Technical Application Support: Analyse slurry characteristics and system conditions for accurate pump selection. Recommend materials, sealing solutions, and integration methods for existing plant infrastructure.
- Project Engagement: Provide technical input for proposals, tenders, and brownfield submissions. Support clients through shutdowns, retrofits, and commissioning phases.
- Market and Feedback Insights: Supply field insights to engineering and product development teams. Track competitor activity and market trends to position the company strategically within brownfield opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years\' experience in slurry pumps, minerals processing, or heavy industrial applications
- Proven background in plant upgrades, retrofits, or brownfield project support
- Strong technical knowledge of slurry pump sizing, sealing systems, and wear part materials
- Commercial acumen with ability to present technical solutions as business value
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills
- Flexibility to travel frequently to mining and processing sites across Australia
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience engaging with EPCMs and engineering consultants on project specifications
- Familiarity with major slurry pump brands and their retrofit/upgrade challenges
- Field experience with shutdown support and commissioning
