Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Architectural Draftsperson to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate drawings and plans. This involves translating projects into technical drawings while ensuring that these documents meet client requirements and adhere to regulatory standards.
Main tasks include:
* Traffic Control Plan Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD, RapidPlan, and other CAD software to produce 2D Traffic Control Plans (TCPs), illustrating the safe and compliant movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction or event zones. Include all necessary traffic devices such as signs, cones, barriers, detours, and lane closures.
* SITE ANALYSIS & PLAN ACCURACY: Use GIS data, aerial imagery, and site-specific measurements to ensure plans are accurate and reflect real-world conditions.
* Technical Documentation: Write specifications for construction methods, materials, and finishes relevant to traffic control infrastructure. Ensure all drafting outputs align with Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1742 series), Austroads guidelines, and relevant zoning regulations.
* Drawing Interpretation & Translation: Interpret engineering and construction drawings, translating civil and architectural plans into compliant, site-specific traffic management solutions.
* Project Collaboration: Work closely with traffic engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure all plans are accurate, feasible, and align with operational objectives.
* Regulatory Compliance & Support: Provide technical advice during the planning phase to ensure all drawings meet local, NSW, and federal traffic regulations. Stay up-to-date with changes to codes and legislation impacting temporary traffic management.
You will also assist in preparing and submitting applications for road occupancy permits, lane closures, and occupation certificates. Additionally, you will participate in site visits as needed to verify compliance with drafted TCPs.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* A minimum of a relevant Diploma, and at least 1 year industry experience within the past 5 years.
* At least 3 years' industry experience may substitute the relevant qualification.
* Proficiency with design software and tools, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies or systems as needed.
* Excellent communications skills and attention to detail.
This is a full-time ongoing position working 38 hours per week based in Illawong, NSW. Annual salary will be between $76,500.00 to $80,000.00 (plus superannuation). Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.
