The Role
Reporting to the Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations, Squadron Energy (SQE), the Community Relations Advisor is a fundamental support position embedded within the UWF Project Management Team. The Community Engagement Advisor is responsible for working closely with the UWF Project Manager, project and site teams and the principal delivery contractors, on a day-to-day basis, to facilitate strong links between the project, landowners, local communities, and external project stakeholders.
Primary responsibilities include community and stakeholder engagement, to support the successful delivery of the Uungula Wind Farm and building positive and respectful relationships (social licence) within the NSW Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone communities where the Project is situated.
This is a site-based role in Wellington, NSW.
Key responsibilities:
* Build, maintain, and strengthen community relationships that support the Project program, with a focus on landholder, community, and stakeholder engagement.
* Develop tailored stakeholder and community engagement strategies, including communications collateral and public events, and execute and measure against Squadron Energy’s objectives.
* Work closely with the Project team to undertake engagement with landowners, neighbours, local communities, and external project stakeholders such as local authorities, industry bodies, and MPs.
* Lead advice and development of best practice engagement with our communities in the CWOREZ.
* Identify and manage Project risks through genuine community engagement and proactively work with the Project team and associated stakeholders to minimise impacts.
* Navigate complex environments and Projects to enhance the brand and Squadron Energy’s social license and partnerships within communities.
* Work with the communications team and UWF Project Manager to develop media releases, advertisements, notifications, background material, and briefings for media, public, or community engagement.
* Organise and run public events including site tours, operating wind farm tours, stalls, etc.
* Prepare clear, informative, community-focused written and digital materials.
* Assist the Project Manager with Project reporting in relation to community engagement in alignment with the PMO requirements.
About you
You will have:
* Extensive experience working across the full lifecycle of infrastructure or construction Projects, with strong stakeholder relationships.
* Deep understanding of stakeholder and community engagement in asset-intensive environments.
* Demonstrated success in designing and delivering strategic, high-quality engagement programs.
* Experience navigating community engagement through externally conditioned approval processes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with a focus on clarity and impact.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Confident using Microsoft 365 and digital tools, including stakeholder database software, to support engagement activities.
* Knowledge of the renewable energy sector and the Central West Orana region (preferred).
* Hold a current Australian driver’s licence.
