As the Assistant Accountant, you will perform critical general ledger account reconciliations that impact multiple areas of a retail bank. This includes lending, deposits and payments.
You will be part of the Finance Team that is responsible for delivering financial reporting, tax, operational accounting, treasury back office, treasury risk and regulatory reporting and systems accounting functions for the Great Southern Bank group.
This role is based in Brisbane and is a max term 12-month contract position.
You'll make an impact by:
* Preparing critical daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations, including cash, bank, settlement and branch reconciliations
* Performing key control functions in the finance processes
* Assisting in end of month close activities (i.e. fee allocation journals, write-offs, etc)
* Identification and reporting of aged reconciliations items
Do things differently with us
To succeed in this role, you will have:
* 2 plus years' commercial accounting or financial services industry work experience is desirable (to support knowledge of customer transaction flows in the general ledger and reconciliations)
* Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
* Demonstrated ability to show critical thinking and problem solving whilst producing accurate work, reliable results, meet tight deadlines, and plan and prioritise workflow
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulae)
* Commerce / Business degree with a major in accounting
* Experience in auto-reconciliation tool preferred (e.g., Blackline) (but not required).
