Associate Designer – Unispace, Melbourne (12-month FTC, Maternity Cover)
Are you a senior interior designer with a passion for creating innovative, functional, and inspiring workplace environments? Unispace Melbourne is looking for an Associate Designer to join our design team on a 12-month fixed‑term contract.
About the Role
As an Associate Designer, you'll lead corporate workplace design projects from concept to completion, collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and cross‑functional teams. You'll bring creativity, technical expertise, and leadership to transform spaces that reflect each client's unique vision.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and refresh workplace environments for global clients, delivering high‑quality, innovative designs.
* Collaborate with clients, business development, and construction teams to ensure project goals are met.
* Oversee projects from concept to completion, managing budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
* Mentor and guide junior designers to support career growth and team development.
* Coordinate with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape) for smooth project execution.
* Produce technical drawings, documentation, and material specifications with attention to detail.
* Conduct site visits, manage RFIs, and support construction administration.
* Contribute fresh ideas to enhance design standards and support inclusive, creative workplaces.
About You
* 10–12+ years' experience in interior design or architecture, with a focus on corporate interiors.
* Strong leadership skills: experience managing teams and mentoring junior staff.
* Advanced proficiency in Revit; additional design software is a plus.
* Expertise in technical drawings, FF&E, detailing, and construction processes.
* Experience working with diverse clients across industries (law, finance, entertainment, marketing, etc.).
* Skilled in budget management, timelines, proposals, and client engagement.
* Knowledgeable about building codes, sustainability practices, and workplace trends.
* Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (AIA, NCIDQ, LEED certifications are a bonus).
