About the Position
We are excited to welcome a part-time or full-time Director of Communications and Advocacy to join our Support Hub team in Milton! In this role, you will lead the development and distribution of all Act for Kids media releases and editorial features. Lead a small team of specialists while monitoring media activity and managing media callouts, identifying opportunities for Act for Kids to provide timely and meaningful commentary.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about raising awareness for children impacted by trauma and showcasing the vital support Act for Kids provides to them and their families.
* Part-time or Full-time maternity backfill opportunity until 12 March 2027.

Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the creation and distribution of media releases and editorial features to lift Act for Kids’ profile.
* Monitor media and manage media callouts and identify opportunities for commentary from Act for Kids which align to the strategic advocacy pillars.
* Effectively manage all media enquiries.
* Manage external advocacy activities that align with the strategic plan.
* Report monthly on Act for Kids media and advocacy efforts.
* Manage external communications with key stakeholders, government minister’s and corporate partners.

About You
* Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or Marketing).
* Self-starter with experience in a similar communications, marketing or public relations role and a strong interest in growing a career in communications/marketing.
* High level knowledge of the media landscape.
* Well-developed writing skills including editing, formatting and proofreading skills and demonstrated ability to write for a variety of different target audiences.
* Knowledge of and experience with different software/systems including website content management systems (Word Press), social media platforms (Hootsuite).
Other Requirements
* Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
* Current driver’s licence.
* Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
