As the
Paediatrician Consultant
you will provide both inpatient and outpatient specialist paediatric care to infants, children and young adults at Royal Darwin Hospital, regional hospitals and remote communities.
You'll provide specialist paediatric advice to colleagues in geographically isolated locations, participate in
routine and emergency after hours care on a roster basis and provide an after-hours consultancy service to colleagues and junior medical staff.
Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is the Northern Territory's only tertiary referral hospital and a university teaching facility with 370 beds. Serving a diverse population across urban and remote regions it provides a wide range of specialist services, including emergency medicine, surgery, intensive care, and paediatrics. RDH shares its campus with the Menzies School of Health Research and Flinders NT Medical School, supporting clinical education and innovation.
The Paediatrics Department includes general paediatric and adolescent wards, an isolation unit, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with retrieval services. The outpatient clinics provide general and subspecialty care, supported by both onsite specialists and visiting subspecialists. RDH paediatrics manages both common and region-specific conditions and is actively involved in adolescent health and child protection. The department supports extensive training and education for junior doctors, with accredited rotations and advanced skills programs.
About you
You're an experienced paediatrician who thrives in diverse settings and values collaborative care.
To be successful you will have:
* Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia or eligibility to obtain
* Completed a fellowship through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with skills for general paediatric care
* Experience in acute and/ or developmental and behavioural paediatrics.
* An understanding of the importance of child protection, and trauma-informed care.
