**The Opportunity**
Monash University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to join our Research and Revenue team. This role is critical in supporting research operations by delivering expert financial services, maintaining accurate data, and building effective working relationships with academic and qualified staff.
This position will be responsible for preparing and analysing complex financial reports, meeting regularly with clients to ensure understanding of financial conditions and grant requirements, and assisting with the formulation of research budgets. You will also organise financial acquittals for external funding bodies, respond to complex financial inquiries, and provide expert financial guidance. In addition, you'll support contractual milestone tracking, perform detailed data analysis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to diverse stakeholders. You'll demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive work ethic. Your organisational skills will ensure you manage multiple priorities effectively, while your computer literacy and experience with financial systems, especially SAP, will support your technical performance. A sound understanding of GST in a research accounting context is also highly desirable.
