The Optus Group Taxation team oversees tax strategy, compliance and governance across the organization. This newly created Senior Tax Analyst position will play a key role within the team, assisting in Optus meeting its income tax compliance and reporting obligations, as well as providing specialist tax advice to business opportunities and management of tax risk
Reporting to the Director Taxation and working with managers across the tax team the role offers the opportunity to develop your tax skills across a wide range of areas including Income Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Employment Taxes, International Tax and Transfer Pricing. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with corporate functions and business units, as well as excellent communication skills to deliver clear, practical advice to stakeholders at all levels. This is a rare opportunity to further your tax career, with the opportunity for growth and development both personally and technically under the mentorship of the Director Taxation and other team managers.
What you’ll be doing
* Preparation of inputs for the Group’s Australian tax compliance obligations, including the consolidated group income tax return, FBT returns, and BEPS Pillar Two implementation.
* Contribute to half-year and full-year financial reporting, including determination of appropriate tax adjustments, tax effect accounting recognition and related disclosures.
* Use of Tax software for return preparation, data consolidation, disclosures, and identification and implementation of process improvements.
* Perform tax technical research on various tax and commercial issues affecting Optus.
* Assist tax managers on various taxes from an advisory and compliance perspective, such as withholding tax, transfer pricing, and employment taxes.
* Assist with regulator queries such as ATO compliance reviews and State Revenue authority audits.
* Support for Optus projects by delivering tax technical advice and ensuring accurate end-to-end implementation of appropriate tax treatments.
What makes you perfect for the role?
* Tertiary qualification in accounting or tax; CPA/CA/Masters of Tax highly regarded.
* Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in tax, ideally in Big 4 or a large corporate.
* Experience in corporate income tax, with a desire to further develop your breadth of tax experience. Exposure to other taxes such as FBT, employment tax, and transfer pricing highly regarded.
* Solid understanding of accounting concepts and tax effect accounting impacts.
* Experience with CCH Tax Integrator and S4 Hana highly regarded.
* Aptitude in analysing data with a focus on automation and efficiency.
* Collaborative team player with excellent multitasking, interpersonal, and communication skills.
