New Position - Community Inspector
Our Council is growing, and so is our team.
Make a difference in your community.
We are looking for confident communicators who enjoy working with people and want to play a hands‐on role in supporting the community.
As a Community Inspector, you will spend most of your time in the field – engaging with residents, knocking on doors, resolving issues, and helping people understand their responsibilities. While communication and education are central to the role, you will also play an important part in investigating and managing community compliance matters.
About The Role
* engage directly with the public in a respectful and approachable way
* educate residents on local laws and community expectations
* investigate a range of matters, including:
o dog attacks and animal management issues
o wandering and unregistered dogs
o barking dogs
o parking and by‐law related matters
* gather information, assess situations, and determine appropriate outcomes
* resolve issues through communication, mediation and practical problem‐solving
* take appropriate compliance action when required
* participate in an after‐hours roster, which will increase your overall earnings
Who We Are Looking For
You do not need a traditional compliance background – we are open to career changers. What matters most is your ability to work with people and handle real‐world situations.
You may come from customer service, security, trades, hospitality, community services, or a similar people‐focused, customer‐facing role.
We are looking for someone who is genuine, grounded and compassionate, with strong communication skills and sound moral judgement – someone people naturally trust and who steps up to help others when it matters.
You Will Ideally Be
* a confident communicator who is comfortable approaching and engaging with others
* comfortable working autonomously, knocking on doors, and starting difficult or uncomfortable conversations
* able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
* capable of gathering information, reading people, and exercising sound judgement under pressure
* fair, consistent and accountable in your approach
* motivated to make a positive contribution to the community
Why Join Us
* meaningful, community‐focused work
* supportive team environment
* variety in your day – no two days are the same
* opportunity to build a long‐term career in local government
