Volunteer at our Social Support Centre in Geelong
If you're interested in connecting with older people who are socially isolated, we'd love to hear from you! We are looking for volunteers to support our centre-based program in Geelong. The program offers participants the opportunity to engage in a range of social activities that support them in staying independent, healthy and connected to their community.
A typical day at the centre might involve:
- Facilitating a game of Scrabble or other group games.
- Working on puzzles together.
- Engaging in arts and craft lessons.
- Getting everyone around the table for a shared lunch.
- Organising group walks or drives on the bus to local museums, movies and other outings.
This role provides you with an opportunity to develop your group skills, learn something current each day and have fun while doing so. You will leave each day feeling fulfilled knowing you have made a meaningful contribution to the lives of people in your community.
The centre operates Monday‑Friday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. We can be flexible to accommodate your needs. Commitment: Regular – more than 6 months. Time required: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9:30 am – 2:30 pm weekly or fortnightly.
Training: Ongoing training and support will be provided.
