Hays Recruitment is seeking experienced Boilermakers/Fitters, Diesel Fitters, and Electricians to join a well established mining operation in Far North Queensland. These are ongoing opportunities offered on a 7 days on / 7 days off day‐shift roster, ideal for tradespeople who are safety‐focused and experienced in mine site environments.
Candidates must reside within 100 km
Mt Carbine, Mount Molloy, Julatten, Mareeba, Mossman, Port Douglas, Shannonvale, Finlayvale, and surrounding areas.
About the Roles
Boilermaker / Fitter - Fixed Plant
You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of fixed plant and processing equipment within an operational mine environment. This is a hands‐on role requiring strong welding, fabrication, and mechanical skills.
Diesel Fitter - Earthmoving
You will maintain, service, and repair heavy diesel earthmoving equipment, carrying out fault diagnostics, breakdown repairs, and planned preventative maintenance in a mining environment.
Electrician - Fixed Plant
You will perform electrical inspections, preventative maintenance, breakdown support, and fault finding across fixed plant equipment, ensuring compliance with electrical safety legislation and site procedures.
Key Responsibilities (Role Dependent)
* Carry out maintenance, repairs, and inspections on fixed plant or mobile equipment
* Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and breakdown repairs
* Execute planned and preventative maintenance activities
* Welding, fabrication, fitting, mechanical or electrical works as required
* Interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications
* Operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely
* Work collaboratively with site maintenance and operations teams
* Ensure all work complies with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Trade qualification in Boilermaking/Fitting, Diesel Fitting, or Electrical
* Previous experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment (highly regarded)
* Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude and problem‐solving skills
* Safety‐focused attitude with strong attention to detail
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Licences & Tickets (role dependent)
* Current C Class Driver's Licence (essential)
* HR Licence (desirable/essential for Diesel Fitters)
* Queensland Electrical Licence (Electricians)
* EWP, Forklift, Confined Space, Dogman/Rigger tickets (advantageous)
* Welding experience (for Boilermakers/Fitters)
* PLC experience (Allen Bradley ControlLogix highly regarded for Electricians)
