An opportunity is available for an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer to join a well‑established and growing organisation based on the Gold Coast. This role will suit a highly organised and detail‑driven finance professional who is confident managing end‑to‑end bookkeeping, payroll, and financial administration within a structured and fast‑paced environment.
Your New Role
Reporting to senior management and working closely with external accountants, you will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day finance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
* Data entry and maintenance of accurate financial records
* Bank and credit card reconciliations
* Chart of accounts management
* Data file corrections and system maintenance
* Weekly financial reporting to management
* Monthly PAYG and quarterly BAS lodgements
* Management of ATO payment plans
* Liaising with external accountants
* Tracking liabilities including loans and finance agreements
* Providing ad hoc financial support to management
Accounts Payable
* Processing and verifying supplier invoices
* End‑of‑month statement reconciliations
* Supplier payment runs
* Managing supplier queries and disputes
* Monitoring due dates to assist cash flow management
Accounts Receivable
* Invoice processing and management
* Allocation of customer payments and receipts
* Responding to customer account enquiries
* Following up overdue and progress payments
* Processing customer refunds
Payroll & HR Administration
* End‑to‑end weekly payroll processing
* Timesheet management and approvals
* Leave and entitlement management
* Sales commissions, bonuses, and reimbursements
* Terminations and final payments
* STP lodgements and year‑end reconciliations
* Superannuation processing
* Award compliance, classifications, and pay rates
* Payroll tax registration and reporting
* WorkCover administration
* Employee onboarding and offboarding, including contracts, TFN and super setup
* Maintaining HR records, policies, and procedures
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a confident and highly capable finance professional with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar bookkeeping and payroll role
* Extensive experience using Xero
* Strong working knowledge of BAS, GST, payroll, and Australian accounting standards
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently across all levels
