Systems Team Leader – Managed Services (MSP)

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to lead our Systems Engineering team, drive operational excellence, and help shape the future of our managed services offering.
This is an opportunity for a senior technical professional who enjoys balancing people leadership, technical strategy, operational management, and customer engagement while remaining close enough to technology to provide guidance and direction when it matters.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Systems Engineers responsible for delivering high-quality managed services and technical outcomes across a diverse customer base. You will work closely with Service Desk, Networking, Security, Account Management, Project Management and Professional Services teams to ensure exceptional client experiences and operational performance.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Systems Engineers.
* Managing team productivity, utilisation, service quality, and capability planning.
* Acting as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
* Driving operational excellence, process compliance, and continuous improvement.
* Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Supporting strategic technology decisions and infrastructure design.
* Managing resource forecasting, workforce planning, and contractor engagement.
* Ensuring documentation, standards, and service delivery processes remain current and effective.
* Contributing to the ongoing growth and maturity of Netlink's managed services practice.
What You'll Bring
Leadership & Management
* Proven experience leading technical teams within an MSP or IT services environment.
* Strong mentoring, coaching, and performance management capabilities
* Experience managing utilisation, capacity planning, and service delivery outcomes.
Technical Expertise
You will have strong experience across several of the following:
* Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
* Exchange Server and Exchange Online
* Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance
* Virtualisation technologies
* Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity solutions
* Endpoint Security, Antivirus and EDR platforms
* Hybrid and Public Cloud solutions
* Cybersecurity technologies and best practices
* Infrastructure design, deployment, and optimisation
Candidates must demonstrate strong experience across at least 5 of these technical areas.
About You
You are a technically strong leader who enjoys solving complex problems while helping others succeed.
You possess:
* Previous MSP experience (essential).
* Minimum 5 years' experience leading IT engineering teams.
* Experience managing teams of at least 8-10 people is required.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial awareness and customer focus.
* A passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications (desirable).
* Australian work rights are required for this position.
