It supplies major projects nationally and is seeking a commercially astute Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and partner with the Director to drive performance across projects, manufacturing, and supply operations.

The Role
This is a hands‐on Financial Controller role with a strong focus on construction project accounting, cash flow management, and commercial insight. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial control and visibility across live projects, supply chain operations, and inter‐company structures.
* Lead all financial operations, including reporting, compliance, and internal controls
* Prepare consolidated monthly management reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
* Oversee project accounting across multiple construction projects – including WIP reporting, percentage of completion calculation, and revenue recognition in line with AASB 15
* Monitor and control project cash flow, forecasting, and cost performance
* Lead and develop a small accounting team (AP, AR, Payroll)
* Provide commercial insights on project margins, risks, and financial performance
* Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions, transfers, and cost recharges across entities
* Ensure accurate accounting for retentions and subcontractor liabilities
* Manage progress claims, variations, and revenue recognition
* Oversee subcontractor payments in line with contractual and compliance requirements
* Ensure accurate allocation of project costs, overheads, and shared services
* Support contract administration from a financial perspective
* Ensure compliance with the Security of Payment Act obligations
* Manage accounting for joint ventures, SPVs, and development‐related structures (where applicable)
* Partner closely with Project Managers, Operations, and senior stakeholders
* Lead month‐end, year‐end, audit, and statutory reporting
The Requirements
* Degree and CPA/CA qualified
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager within construction, building products, or property development
* Strong understanding of progress claims & revenue recognition, retentions & subcontractor accounting, project cash flow & forecasting, intercompany transfers, cost allocations & recharges, Security of Payment Act requirements, contract administration (financial oversight)
* Experience across project‐based environments with the manufacturing and supply of construction goods/components is highly regarded
* Exposure to JV's, SPVs, or development accounting (advantageous)
* Strong ERP (NetSuite) and project accounting systems experience
* Hands‐on, commercially driven, and confident working with operational teams
