The RoleLead Mechanical Engineer
Reporting to the Engineering Director you are responsible for leading the mechanical engineering function across mining and mineral processing projects, delivering technically robust, practical, and fit-for-purpose design solutions.
The role provides technical leadership, oversight, and direction to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes across all project phases. This includes ownership of mechanical design deliverables, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and engagement with clients to support successful project execution.
The position also plays a key role in mentoring and developing engineering capability within the team.
The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis.
Brief Duties
* Lead the delivery of mechanical engineering design across projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
* Provide technical leadership and guidance to mechanical engineers and designers
* Oversee the development and review of engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and datasheet
* Interface with multidisciplinary teams to achieve integrated design outcomes
* Manage and contribute to design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, and risk assessments
* Engage with clients to define scope, resolve technical issues, and support project delivery
* Support project planning, including estimates, resource planning, and scheduling
Criteria
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering
* 10+ years' experience in engineering consultancy or project delivery
* Demonstrated experience in mineral processing projects
* Strong background in design of mechanical systems and equipment
* Experience leading engineering teams and delivering multidisciplinary projects
* Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and engineering practices
* Experience across all project phases
* Strong technical leadership and decision-making capability
* Practical, outcomes-focused approach to engineering
