About the role
We are seeking an individual with solid IT knowledge to join our small team at GC Tech Services as an in-house IT support technician. This role involves both on-site work in clients’ homes and remote support.
This is a highly flexible, casual role that will vary based on your availability and client demand.
Typical hours are 2–5 hours per week, with busier weeks reaching 10+ hours. Typically bookings are made within 24 hours of the client contacting us.
What you'll be doing
* Responding to and resolving IT related queries and issues in a timely manner
* Providing on-site and remote support for hardware, software, and network problems
* Assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems and equipment
* Setting up TVs, phones, computers, tablets, Wi-Fi and mesh networks, parental controls, and smart home devices
* Teaching clients how to use new technology
* Identifying and recommending improvements to optimise clients’ systems
What we're looking for
* Strong general knowledge across hardware, software, networking, and security
* Intermediate-level technical skills in IT support (1–3 years’ experience preferred)
* Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, non-technical language (many clients are elderly)
* Ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently and independently
* Previous experience in residential or small business IT support is an advantage
* Relevant certifications or qualifications are a bonus, but not required
* Own car and a valid Australian driver’s licence
* An ABN (Australian Business Number)
