About the role

Collection Enhancement Project Officer (Archaeology)

We need a Collection Enhancement Project Officer - your chance to prepare the Australian Museums' cultural collection objects for digital registration, documentation enhancement, community consultation, and digitisation.

This role is a temporary, full-time role for a maximum of 4 years.

The First Nations Cultural Collections Enhancement project is an 8-year project that aims to register and digitise the cultural collections of the museum.

Key responsibilities and scope:
The Collection Enhancement Project Officers work within the Cultural Collection Enhancement Project (CCEP) to prepare cultural collection objects for documentation enhancement, community consultation, and digitisation. This includes a gamut of activities, from preparation to object handling, registration of collection objects, barcoding, data entry and clean up as objects are selected and relocated for digitisation, during photography or consultation, returned to storage and on occasion assisting with quality checking digital image files and metadata.

Pay Grade:
Clerk Grade 1/2

Required experience and skills:

- Demonstrated understanding and experience in collection management and contemporary digital asset management practices including the use of databases such as EMu, Fotoware or similar.
- An understanding of Archaeology, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pasifika and / or World cultures' arts and cultural practices and experience working with sensitive material including ICIP and cultural protocols.
- Holds a current NSW Driver's Licence. The role holder must be prepared to travel between the various sites which holds the AM collections.
- Museum object handling experience, archaeology collections preferred.
- Knowledge of professional museum and/or digitisation practice.

You will be paid a competitive annual salary $67,976 - $73,901, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 10.5%) and annual leave loading.

Location

1 William St Darlinghurst 2010 (Sydney Australia) and multiple sites in NSW
